DETOX DAY 6

Today  last DETOX Day.

It was such a great experience for me. I will continue eating like this, because i feel so much better already after 6 days.

I have forgot to tell you that I changed from vinegar in the morning to lemon water, which I prefer by far !!

Why you should drink warm Lemon water in the morning:

Start the day out with a mug of warm water and the juice of half a lemon.

It’s so simple and the benefits are just too good to ignore. Warm water with lemon:

1. Boosts you’re immune system

Lemons are high in Vitamin C and potassium. Vitamin C is great for fighting colds and potassium stimulates brain & nerve function and helps control blood pressure.

2. Balances pH

Lemons are an incredibly alkaline food, believe it or not. Yes, they are acidic on their own, but inside our bodies they’re alkaline (the citric acid does not create acidity in the body once metabolized). As you wellness warriors know, an alkaline body is really the key to good health.

3. Helps with weight loss

Lemons are high in pectin fiber, which helps fight hunger cravings. It also has been shown that people who maintain a more alkaline diet lose weight faster. And, my experience is that when I start the day off right, it’s easier to make the best choices for myself the rest of the day.

4. Aids digestion

The warm water serves to stimulate the gastrointestinal tract and peristalsis—the waves of muscle contractions within the intestinal walls that keep things moving. Lemons and limes are also high in minerals and vitamins and help loosen ama, or toxins, in the digestive tract.

5. Acts as a gentle, natural diuretic

Lemon juice helps flush out unwanted materials because lemons increase the rate of urination in the body. Toxins are, therefore, released at a faster rate which helps keep your urinary tract healthy.

6. Clears skin

The vitamin C helps decrease wrinkles and blemishes. Lemon water purges toxins from the blood which helps keep skin clear as well.

7. Hydrates the lymph system

This cup of goodness helps start the day on a hydrated note, which helps prevent dehydration (obviously) and adrenal fatigue. When your body is dehydrated, or deeply dehydrated (adrenal fatigue) it can’t perform all of it’s proper functions, which leads to toxic buildup, stress, constipation, and the list goes on. Your adrenals happen to be two small glands that sit on top of your kidneys, and along with your thyroid, create energy. They also secrete important hormones, including aldosterone. Aldosterone is a hormone secreted by your adrenals that regulates water levels and the concentration of minerals, like sodium, in your body, helping you stay hydrated. Your adrenals are also responsible for regulating your stress response. So, the bottom line is that you really don’t want to mess with a deep state of dehydration!

BREAKFAST:

Celery,Apple, Fennel and a piece of Ginger  in the Juicer

Than I transferred the Juice to the mixer, added half of the Avocado and some Lemon Juice

Lunch I was not home. I made a 3 hours walk and I stopped in a little mountain hut where I ordered some wonderful green Asparagus with grilled Potatoes . Sorry I forgot my camera. But here some photos that I made previous.

DINNER:

I am so tired from my walk I could choose between a soup  or

I choose the Smoothie.I promise, it taste much better than it looks like, but blackberries makes a funny color .

The secret to staying young: eat goji berries

You might of heard of these berries before and you might have not but Goji Berries have been shown to reduce the your body’s ability to age, keeping you youthful in spirit and physique.

There are many unique and interesting things about these beautiful berries:

1. They contain essential amino acids

In fact they contain the highest concentration of protein in any fruit!

2. They are loaded with antioxidants

Antioxidants aid the functioning of our immune systems, they help fight the free radicals that contribute to cancer as well as ageing.

3. Better than Popeye

Boasting 15 times the amount of iron found in spinach, as well as a heap of calcium, zinc, selenium and many other important trace minerals, these bad boys are a winning ticket to optimal health.

 

So how do I eat them?

I tend to pop them in my breakfast bowl, along side some whole milk yogurt, fresh berries and nuts. Or I pop them in a smoothie or just grab a handful of them as a snack.

There also great to pop into healthy dessert as an extra goodie!

They soak up a lot of juice so I quite like eating them after soaking them for half an hour in almond milk or yogurt.

 

BREAKFAST:

BUCKWHEAT FLAKES with Apple-Pear Compote and Pistachios

Just boil the Flakes in water with little salt, for a few minutes, they are ready very fast.When ready you can add very little of Coconut Oil .

LUNCH:

GRILLED ZUCCHINI with Spring Onion, Garlic, Chili, Oregano

I served with  grilled Pepper and Thai Rice

Fennel with Cherrie Tomatoes, Carper and  Dill

I steamed the Fennel

The Tomatoes I fryed in Olive Oil , i added the Carpers. No salt as the Carpers are salty enough. Serve with a Dill.

It was just YUMMMI !!!!

Don’t forget to drink at least 2 liters a day!!!!

A Girlfriend asked me yesterday, how much time I spend with cooking ?

I really don’t spend more than 30 minutes a day!!! All is in the organization. The most important thing is to have everything home. Even if you are working, you can prepare everything the day before and than take it with you in the office.It is only a question of motivation.

An other friend said to me: organic food is expensive .First it depends the country you are living. Austria for example is not expensive , Switzerland , organic food is extremely expensive but when you look how little things you need to make a tasty and healthy dish, it is worth to choose organic. I am not so sure that organic has no pesticide treatments , but if there is only one less, it is worth it.

 

BREAKFAST :

Buckwheat Crackers with Avocado, Cilantro,Cumin, little Lemonjuice

and on top small lRed Radish with Sea-salt

Avocados are an excellent source of fiber, potassium and vitamins, including vitamins C, K, folate, and B6.  In fact, avocados have the highest concentration of protein and vitamin E of any fruit.  An entire avocado has about 320 calories and 30 grams of heart-healthy unsaturated fat, making it a good source of energy.  It only contains about 4 grams of saturated fat.  Because unsaturated fats are a necessary part of a healthy diet, an avocado is an ideal (and delicious way to get it).  With that one avocado, you get 1/3 of your daily value of vitamin C and more than half the day’s requirements of vitamin K.  That’s a lot of nutrients to pack into such a little piece of fruit!

When I wanted to detoxifying my liver, digestive system and bloodstream, I tossed slices of fresh organic radishes onto my crackers, salads .If they  are organic I even use their leafs in soups .

LUNCH:

Red Lentil with grilles Baby Artichoke, grilled Mushroom , and Sage chips

This orange lentil cook very fast.

I roast them in little olive oil, Cinnamon, Cayenne, Cumin, Curcuma than I add the water. I always salt Lentils when they are cooked. Once cooked I cut the left Beetroot from yesterday in small cubes and mixe all together with a little Lemon juice

In the meantime I heated the oven and gave the Sage leafs on baking paper, brushed its with olive oil and for about 6 minutes in the hot oven.

The Babyartichokes could be eaten rare, but I sliced them thin and grilled them in olive oil the same with the Mushrooms. I chopped a lot of parsley and fresh Oregano which I gave over the Veggies.P1080758

You might ask yourself on what base I made this nutrition week.

Of course I build it up  on my personal demand: but this works for everybody

  • NO MEAT and FISH
  • NO SUGAR
  • NO ALCOHOL
  • GLUTEN FREE
  • NO EGGS
  • NO MILK PRODUCTS
  •  NO SOY MILK

So you ask yourself what is left?

Believe me enough for a week!!!

 

TODAY IS GRAIN DAY

(only one grain for the day)

and I choose QUINOA

There’s no doubt that quinoa is a nutritional star.

Quinoa was sacred to the incas in south america, who called it “chisiya mama” (chee – si – ya – ma – mah) or mother of all grains.

Widely considered a whole grain today, quinoa technically isn’t a grain. It’s the seed of the goosefoot plant, which is related to Swiss chard and spinach.

But like whole grains, quinoa is high in fiber, which may lower your risk of heart disease and diabetes, and help control your weight.

It’s also a good source of protein. One cup has 8 grams, about the same amount in a glass of lowfat milk.

Quinoa is one of the only plant foods that provides all nine essential amino acids

One of those amino acids is lysine, which is important for tissue growth and repair… and helps the body absorb calcium.

When preparing quinoa, cooks should rinse it first to remove any powdery residue. The simplest way to do this is to place the grains in a strainer and rinse them until the water runs clear.

Quinoa is Gluten free

Prepare it like rice.

I prepared immediately for the whole day. So I just boiled it with a tiny bit of salt and some mandarine peel. Like this it stays very neutral and you can use it later sweet or salty.

Just for your information:

GLUTEN FREE grains are:

Quinoa, Rice, Amaranth, Buckwheat, Millet

Even if you have no intolerance in Gluten, I would suggest to eat Gluten free during the DETOX week.

LUNCH:

Beetroot Carpaccio with fresh grated Horseradish, in olive oil grilled Mushrooms, Quinoa,  spring leave salad with Figs vinegar and Sea salt ,chives

The Beetroot I prepare in the oven. Just wrap the raw root several times in aluminum foil and give it for about one hour, depends the size, in the hot oven. Like this it gets very tasty and all vitamins stay inside.

As I have prepared several bottles of soup last day which  I stored in bottles in the fridge

there will be GREEN SOUP for Dinner

 I added just some of the Quinoa and some fresh Coriander on top.

When I wake up in the morning and I see my flowers I feel already happy

and full of motivation for  DETOX DAY 2

POTATO-VEGGI DAY

This time I tried to drink a shot of apple vinegar with a glass of water just right

after. Not a good idea!!!! Tomorrow again champaign glass!

I was laughing when I saw from where came the vinegar : From Zagreb!!

For sure there was nothing else I could buy !!

After my Zagreb vinegar I immediately started to boil the potatoes .

I must say I am HUNGRY

grilled pine nuts: a dressing with seed oil and balsamic vinegar (this is my little gift

of the day, better would have been lemon)
